RediTabs cut in 1/2 OK for youngsters...cheaper than buying children's Claritin & it's in the RediTab formula!!

If you are reading the reviews on Claritin, you probably already know it is a wonderful allergy medication, so my review isn't really on the Claritin itself. My son, who is 4, suffers from seasonal allergies. The children's Claritin works great for him, but it is so expensive that I went to our family pediatrician in search of a cheaper method. His pediatrician informed me that the childrens Claritin contains 5mg of the active ingredient, and the adult RediTabs contains 10mg...thus cutting the RediTab in half results in the same dosage as the childrens. This has been a wonderful help in paying for my son's Claritin because an adult box of 30 RediTabs lasts him 60 days for the same price as a childrens box of 20 chewable tablets. Now, I am no doctor and am only relaying to you what my childs pediatrician said was OK to do. :-)

Claritin is GREAT, but my kids prefer the RediTabs & you can cut the adult RediTab in 1/2...MUCH cheaper!

Made My Daughter Unbearably Hyper

Use caution giving this to small children. My daughter is 2.5. A medical assistant insisted we try it for a drippy nose (which I'm not convinced to be just allergies rather than a nasal infection so maybe that's the issue). The first thing I noticed is the dosage for a 2 year old is the same for a child up to 6--which is rather concerning a 6 year old is MUCH bigger than a 2 year old. I wish I had halved the dosage, but was worried it wouldn't be effective... Well it's not that effective anyhow. While it slowed her dripping nose *a little*, it made her VERY hyper which totally went against the whole point o giving it to her (to give her enough relief she could sleep). Now we went from having a congested kid to a hyper and congested kid. Within 20 minutes of taking it she started acting like a stereotype of a kid on Ritalin...talking nonstop and zipping around like she's had 10 Mountain Dews. She has powered through her nap and it's ruined the day for both of us. Not looking forward 24 hours of this as I really need to get sleep tonight.
